<h2 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center" id="getting-there-anchor">How to get there</h2>

<p>Langkawi is situated very closely to the Thai border, that makes it a perfect first stop when you are coming over from nearby Thailand.<br>Or perhaps you are already traveling around Malaysia then I would highly recommend you to NOT skip Langkawi Island!</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">Langkawi Island has it&#8217;s own international airport so most people would be arriving from there.<br>But you can also take the ferry service towards the island.<br>Ferries depart from either Kuala Kedah which will take you around 1 hour 45min or from Kuala Perlis which is a bit closer.<br>Myself I came from the Thai border and went straight to Kuala Perlis and took a ferry the next day.<br>Taking a ferry from Kuala Perlis takes you around 1 hour and 15min and costs you 18RM one way(3,80eu)</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">A new option is to depart from Penang Island and take the ferry for around 3 hours.<br>This will cost you 60RM so around 12,50 euro.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="652" src="data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%201024%20652'%3E%3C/svg%3E" data-src="https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/je-kkkmameh-1024x652.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3253 lazy" style="width:720px;height:430px" data-srcset="https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/je-kkkmameh-1024x652.jpg 1024w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/je-kkkmameh-300x191.jpg 300w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/je-kkkmameh-768x489.jpg 768w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/je-kkkmameh-1536x978.jpg 1536w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/je-kkkmameh-94x60.jpg 94w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/je-kkkmameh-600x382.jpg 600w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/je-kkkmameh.jpg 1697w" data-sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center" id="where-stay-anchor">Where to stay</h2>

<p style="font-size:18px">Now for the love of God DON&#8217;T stay in Kuah city.<br>It is the capital city of Langkawi Island but it just feels so underwhelming and soulless.<br>(The only highlight is the Eagle statue which is also the symbol of Langkawi island)</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">So no, stay in the Cenang area instead! It has a good location and there are plenty of attractions and shops there.<br>A really laidback place that has lots of cheap accomodations for backpackers and average priced hotels for those who have a bit more to spend.<br>Cenang is also located right next to the beach, a beach that offers lots of restaurants and chill places to hangout at!</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">They are mostly located off the beaten path and are in the more remote areas of Langkawi Island.<br>Some of the most famous and top rated ones are: The Danna Langkawi, The Westin resort or the Four Season Resort!</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">Langkawi is perfect to travel all year round. Temperatures throughout the year are more or less the same, around 30-35°C during the day and a pleasant 20°C at night.<br>Warm enough for you to turn the airconditioner on but not hot enough for you to sweat extensively (although I guess that depends on your activities in the bedroom😉😅)</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">The island has a dry and wet season and thus it suffers from the occasional thunderstorm and heavy downpours.<br>But its location forms a natural barrier to avoid them becoming too frequent or violent.</p>

<p>Which means that even during the rainy season it is fine to visit.<br>You can expect nice weather with the occasional short but heavy downpour as seen in other countries in the area.</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">So the best time to visit also depends on your preferences!<br>If you want to witness the waterfalls then visit during the wet season.<br>The water streams are strongest and jungles are super lush and green.<br>If you plan to spend your days sunbathing on the beaches then you can better go during the dry season.</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">Welcome to Part 2 of this post where I&#8217;ll be telling you all the reasons why you should visit Thailand!<br>Have you missed Part 1 of this article? Then click here&gt; <a href="https://davesontheroad.com/destinations/asia/thailand/articles-5/7-reasons-why-you-should-visit-thailand-part-1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">7 Reasons to visit Thailand!| Part 1</a><br>In this second part I&#8217;ll be going deeper into the Thai hospitality, nightlife and how amazingly cheap this country is for us Westerners.</p>

<p><strong>So scroll down further and find out why Thailand should be your next travel destination!</strong></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">&#8211; &#8211; Categories &#8211; &#8211;</h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong><a href="#hospitality-anchor-button">Thai Hospitality</a></strong></li>

<li><strong><a href="#nightlife-anchor-button">Nightlife</a></strong></li>

<li><strong><a href="#prices-anchor-button">Cheap Prices</a></strong></li>
</ul>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-text-color has-black-color has-css-opacity has-black-background-color has-background is-style-wide"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center" id="hospitality-anchor-button">5: Thai Hospitality</h2>

<p style="font-size:18px">Not many countries I have been would I find hospitality a major factor to include in a list like this…<br>Thailand is a whole other story though!<br>The Thai people are super friendly and open towards foreigners which you will find in multiple layers of society.</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">Think about hotel staff providing you with welcoming drinks or giving you wet towels to cool yourself down.<br>Same goes for restaurant staff, staff at supermarkets and school girls who come to greet you because they love to talk to foreigners.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="458" src="data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%201024%20458'%3E%3C/svg%3E" data-src="https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/bowing-1-1024x458.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3169 lazy" style="width:720px;height:344px" data-srcset="https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/bowing-1-1024x458.jpg 1024w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/bowing-1-300x134.jpg 300w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/bowing-1-768x343.jpg 768w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/bowing-1-134x60.jpg 134w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/bowing-1-600x268.jpg 600w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/bowing-1.jpg 1280w" data-sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>Sawadee Ka/Krap Thai greeting</em></figcaption></figure>

<p style="font-size:18px">Almost everywhere you go you will be greeted with a friendly smile and a Thai who would love to help you out in case you are in need of help.<br>Which you&#8217;ll also experience in for example the famous Thai massage!</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">Sure there is a thin line between famous and infamous when it comes to the Thai massage, many people would think straight away about the &#8216;Happy endings&#8217; being offered😅<br>But ofcourse the Thai massage is so much more then that!</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">I think the hospitality aspect also comes back in the way those massages are being done.<br>You can truly feel that they take their time for you, communicate with you in case you are in any pain and make sure you feel reborn after!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="849" height="565" src="data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20849%20565'%3E%3C/svg%3E" data-src="https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/ThaiSpa-Relax-Body1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3167 lazy" style="width:650px;height:400px" data-srcset="https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/ThaiSpa-Relax-Body1.jpg 849w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/ThaiSpa-Relax-Body1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/ThaiSpa-Relax-Body1-768x511.jpg 768w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/ThaiSpa-Relax-Body1-90x60.jpg 90w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/ThaiSpa-Relax-Body1-600x399.jpg 600w" data-sizes="auto, (max-width: 849px) 100vw, 849px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>Traditional Thai massage</em></figcaption></figure>

<p style="font-size:18px">Now of course not every Thai is as friendly towards foreigners as others..<br>There are those who love to charge you extra just because you are a foreigner, think about national parks doubling the price for foreigners compared to Thai people.</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">But for the most part Thai people are extremely friendly, helpful and respectful towards us(so make sure you treat them in the same way!)</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-text-color has-black-color has-css-opacity has-black-background-color has-background is-style-wide"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center" id="nightlife-anchor-button">6: Nightlife</h2>

<p style="font-size:18px">You don&#8217;t need to have been in Thailand to know about the nightlife scene there.<br>Most people know all too well how (in)famous the Thai nightlife is, how there is a huge ladyboy scene and how lots of older foreigners visit Thailand just to have sex there.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="702" height="336" src="data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20702%20336'%3E%3C/svg%3E" data-src="https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Soi-Cowboy-Bangkok-702x336-1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3168 lazy" style="width:700px;height:336px" data-srcset="https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Soi-Cowboy-Bangkok-702x336-1.jpg 702w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Soi-Cowboy-Bangkok-702x336-1-300x144.jpg 300w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Soi-Cowboy-Bangkok-702x336-1-125x60.jpg 125w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Soi-Cowboy-Bangkok-702x336-1-600x287.jpg 600w" data-sizes="auto, (max-width: 702px) 100vw, 702px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>Soi Cowboy | Bangkok</em></figcaption></figure>

<p style="font-size:18px">I&#8217;d be lying if I said it isn&#8217;t as bad as people say it is because it is haha..<br>In my time there I&#8217;ve seen dozens of older guys walking those streets looking for young girls/guys to fuck.</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">I even saw an older guy kissing a younger Thai &#8216;guy&#8217; on the beach once, not that special maybe untill I tell you that the Thai guy was probably a kid of just 15/16 years old🙄🤢</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">Look back at <a href="https://davesontheroad.com/destinations/asia/thailand/articles-5/7-reasons-why-you-should-visit-thailand-part-1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Part 1 of this article</a> and you can see me talk about Thai Culture and I keep finding it funny how such a peaceful and Buddhistic country has 1 of the biggest sex cultures in the world!<br>The sex industry has become a major part of the Thai economy and therefore I don&#8217;t think it will ever disappear.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="1000" height="702" src="data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%201000%20702'%3E%3C/svg%3E" data-src="https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/67666_og_1-e1640965946796.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-3170 lazy" style="width:720px;height:450px" data-srcset="https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/67666_og_1-e1640965946796.jpeg 1000w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/67666_og_1-e1640965946796-300x211.jpeg 300w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/67666_og_1-e1640965946796-768x539.jpeg 768w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/67666_og_1-e1640965946796-85x60.jpeg 85w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/67666_og_1-e1640965946796-562x395.jpeg 562w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/67666_og_1-e1640965946796-600x421.jpeg 600w" data-sizes="auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>A normal sight in Thailand&#8217;s Red light areas</em></figcaption></figure>

<p style="font-size:18px">Now I do find it interesting to walk those streets don&#8217;t get me wrong…<br>The red neon lights shining bright at night, girls swinging with boards and saying how they&#8217;ll give me a blowjob for a good price😅</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">I&#8217;d say it&#8217;s definitely worth the visit so you can experience the vibe there.<br>But it is simply not my cup of tea. I would never sleep with a girl who just sells herself for everyone.<br>But if you are into that, then book your flight right now because Thailand is the place for you!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="600" height="399" src="data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20600%20399'%3E%3C/svg%3E" data-src="https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/soi-cowboy-bangkok-2018-min.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3166 lazy" data-srcset="https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/soi-cowboy-bangkok-2018-min.jpg 600w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/soi-cowboy-bangkok-2018-min-300x200.jpg 300w, https://davesontheroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/soi-cowboy-bangkok-2018-min-90x60.jpg 90w" data-sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>

<p style="font-size:18px">Now I can&#8217;t talk about the Thai nightlife without mentioning the biggest party there, attracting thousands of foreigners.<br>Yes indeed! The Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan!<br>Held every month once the full moon has set it in.</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">I have never attended the party myself but we all know it&#8217;s reputation right?</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">Alcohol, sex and parties that last entire nights.<br>Buckets filled with alcohol, fire shows, people walking around in neon face paint.<br>A must visit when you love to party and I&#8217;m sure a night to remember!</p>

<p><strong>Of course Thailand also has regular nightclubs, amazing rooftop bars and other interesting nightlife to explore!<br>Just because the sex industry is so huge doesn&#8217;t mean the entire country is filled with red light areas haha</strong>. <h2 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center" id="prices-anchor-button">7: Price</h2>

<p style="font-size:18px">Thailand and actually most of South-East Asia in general are really affordable destinations!<br>You will notice this with every single thing that you do.</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">Have you always wanted to stay in a 4/5star resort but has it always been too expensive for you?<br>Then Thailand will most likely solve your problems!</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">Or perhaps you are a student who received some money from your parents or saved some by your own.<br>Then even with that small amount of money you can still travel around Thailand for weeks!</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">There is a reason why Thailand is such a popular destination in Asia and famous around the world!<br>Reasonable priced hotels, stunning temples and a cheap but very delicious cuisine.<br>The only downside might be your flight going there but once that&#8217;s behind you, you&#8217;ll find yourself in one of the most beautiful countries in the world!</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">The cheap prices will also come back to you when it comes to all forms of transportation!<br>Flights from Chiang Mai up North to Phuket in the South can cost you around 40eu one way. Or even less depending how far in advance you book!</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">A night train bringing you from Bangkok to the city of Chiang Mai would cost you around 20/25eu.<br>In return you get a 12 hour train ride and a really fun way of traveling huge distances!</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">Malaysia wasn&#8217;t expensive in any way of course, I stayed in a hotel with views over the Kuala Lumpur skyline for just 20euro..<br>But Thailand is much cheaper in comparison and so to come to the final conclusion, a must visit for everyone!</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">And when it comes to beaches the options are once again endless, I&#8217;d say it all depends on your preferences and how far you want to travel.<br>The islands to the east offer the most stunning sights like Koh Tao and Koh Nang yuan but they are also a bit harder to reach.</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">Thailand&#8217;s culture is just insane and something that&#8217;s gonna stay with you for the rest of your life!<br>Just take the 2 most famous festivals there are in Thailand:</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">A festival that&#8217;s being held on the full moon of the 12th month in the Thai lunar calendar<br>For the Thai people a day to worship the Gods, in particular the Goddess of water Ganga and to worship Buddha as well.</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">A festival celebrated all throughout Thailand but best enjoyed in Chiang Mai!<br>Celebrating Loy Krahthong will be a memory of a lifetime, literally thousands and thousands of lanterns are being lit up into the night sky!</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">It doesn&#8217;t matter whether you participate or just stand around and take everything in.. everywhere you look you&#8217;ll see thousands of lights cruising across the sky!<br>A magical experience and one that I will never ever forget!</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">Another thing going is the release of beatiful lotus-shaped rafts, decorated with flowers and candles onto the water.<br>The best spot to watch both activities at once is on the: Iron Bridge and the Nawarat Bridge both in Chiang Mai.</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">This ladies and gentleman is the Thai New Year&#8217;s National holidays, celebrated from 13 April to the 15th.</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">A festival that basically turns the streets into a big chaos, loads of parties and people from every country celebrating and having fun!<br>Now how do they do that you might ask? Well what do you think of huge water fights in the streets?!</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">People shooting each other with water guns, throwing buckets of water at each other or they just party all day all night.<br>Now this is the touristic side most of us know but of course there are other celebrations going on amongst the Thai people.</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">Visiting temples, praying, spending time with family and friends or traveling around the country.<br>But the most well known and popular among the tourists are of course the insane chaos and water fights in the streets!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center" id="temples-button-anchor" style="font-size:25px">3: Temples</h2>

<p style="font-size:18px">Now this section should be in <strong>2:Culture</strong> but there is just so much to say about these places of worship. Temples are what makes Thailand unique and they will take your breath away!<br>Thailand is for 93.5 percent Buddhist so expect lots and lots of them.</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">Huge temple complexes filled with incredible statues, gold filled ornaments, paintings and lots of monks in orange robes doing their daily routines.<br>But they also turned into big touristic attractions and for good reason haha.</p>

<p style="font-size:18px">The temples in Thailand range from very small ones that only the locals know off to huge temple complexes that attract hundreds of tourists every day!<br>Or what to think of the temples of the past? There are a huge amount of temple ruins to be found especially around the historical parks of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai.</p>
